Ian is the co-founder of the cannabis extraction firm Motif Labs and served as the company’s CEO for its first 3 years of operations, until January 2021. Ian remains actively involved in Motif, and currently oversees a number of strategic projects in finance, R&D, PR/marketing, and as a Director on the governing Board. Motif has raised more than $12M from investors since its inception and has leveraged a number of sources of non-dilutive financing to fuel its growth into one of the largest and most profitable cannabis extractors in the country.
Prior to founding Motif, Ian was the Director of Entrepreneurship (Propel) at Western University, managing the on-campus Accelerator and Incubator programs, and has over a decade of experience assisting other entrepreneurs launch companies and raise more than $20M in seed/early-stage capital from a variety of investors.
